This course is for people interested in working in welfare service delivery, community development projects, direct client work, group work and community health promotion. You will be trained to work with clients from varying backgrounds, such as people in crisis, migrants, developing communities, youth and people with disabilities. When you graduate, you will be qualified to work at an advanced skill level and be trained for the supervision of other staff and volunteers. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to work as a social welfare worker in the community service industry. It provides you with an understanding of human rights, a range of cultures, indigenous issues and strategies for effective service delivery. This course will allow you to move into a job in service delivery, direct client work and/or community education and community development. |

This course also includes 400 hours of fieldwork. This work based training will be conducted off campus in the same state as your course. To be eligible to begin your placements, you will need to provide a current Police Check and Working with Children Check in order to meet the requirements of the agencies providing your Field Placement experience.
This course is delivered in a classroom and if applicable in practical based environment with practical requirements simulated to reflect the real work situation. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom theory, practical delivery, group discussions, and individual research.

Upon successfully completion of this qualification, students will be eligible to work as welfare and community development workers in a range of community service agencies in government, private, not for profit and other similar areas of service delivery. Graduates may find employment as a Welfare Worker, Outreach Worker, Case Manager, Community Educator/Trainer, Client Support Worker or Group Worker.
