English Language

English Language CourseEntry requirements
High School Preparation (HSP) Completion of high school Year 10 or equivalent in the home country AND IELTS of 4.5 or equivalent.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
General English (GE) No entry requirements.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP1) IELTS score of level 5.0 or equivalent in the home country.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
English for Academic Purposes 2 (EAP2) IELTS score of level 5.5 or equivalent or successful completion of EAP1.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
First Certificate of English (FCE) IELTS score of level 4.5 or equivalent in the home country.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
English for Vocational Education (EVE) IELTS score of level 5.0 or equivalent in the home country.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.
IELTS Preparation IELTS score of level 5.0 or equivalent in the home country.
Students are required to be at least 16 years of age to commence study in this course.


Vocational Education

International students whose first language is not English are required to have an (IELTS) International English Language Testing System score of at least 5.5 per band or an equivalent proficiency per band as shown in the table below.

An English Language proficiency level of one (1) of the following:

  • IELTS band score of 5.5 (academic test version) or equivalent internationally recognised exam result in line with Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) regulations
  • Satisfactory completion of the Carrick English for Vocational Education (EVE) course
  • Satisfactory completion of 6 weeks of ELICOS at Upper Intermediate level at Carrick - Satisfactory completion of 6-10 weeks of Upper Intermediate level from a National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) Accredited English Institution
  • Satisfactory pass in the Carrick Vocational Entry Test

AND One (1) of the following:

  • Completion of secondary studies in your home country equivalent to an Australian Year 11 qualification will be required for entry into Certificate IV level qualifications (for students applying form Country Assessment levels 1 and 2 only)
  • or Completion of secondary studies in student’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification
  • or Completion of a Year 12 in Australia with satisfactory pass in English
  • or Completion of a recognised foundation course in Australia or other countries with a pass in all subjects

Mature age students will be considered without minimum education requirements, but need to demonstrate relevant work experience within their chosen area of study.
