Student ID Cards

Once you have enrolled, you are entitled to receive your student ID Card. Your ID Card establishes you as a student of the institute and allows you certain rights and obligations. You will find your card useful in obtaining student concessions and discount rates for the purchase of textbooks, conference and seminar attendance, the cinema and other entertainment events and venues.

ID Cards will be issued during the first two weeks of class. See the Student Services Department for details.

Please Note: International Students are not eligible for public transport concession.

Common Room / Break Out Area

A student common room or break out area is available for eating and preparing lunches and snacks at all campuses. This is a great place to meet other students and there are facilities for storing and heating food. Keep up to date with the latest events by regularly checking the notice board in this area.

Student Welfare

The Student Services Department is available for confidential assistance in any of the following areas.

  • Counselling - General or Personal, Emergency Assistance, Support and Referrals
  • Cultural Adjustment
  • Student Accommodation
  • Study Assistance

Feel free to arrange an appointment to see the Student Services Department at your campus between 8:30AM and 5:30PM Monday to Friday.

Graduations

Qualifying for Graduation is solely the student's responsibility. In order to qualify for Graduation, a student must have successfully completed the course requirements set for his/her particular program and have met all financial obligations to the Institute.

Absences

Students who are absent should see a registered practitioner and obtain a medical certificate. The medical certificate must detail the reason you are sick and how long you will be unfit for class. You will need to give a photocopy of the medical certificate to your teacher and keep the original to provide to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) if they request it.

Smoking

The Institute is a non-smoking environment and therefore smoking is not permitted anywhere in the buildings, including corridors, classrooms, lifts, stairwells, ground floor foyer, or the front steps of the buildings.

Feedback questionnaires are distributed once a semester. All students have the opportunity to complete this questionnaire and have their say. All information in this document is private and confidential.

Resource Centre

Melbourne Campus

The main resource centre is located at level 3, 370 Docklands drive.

Open from

Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 8.45pm
Saturday: 9.00am - 3.45pm

The Resource Centre is closed on Sunday and public holidays with reduced times and days during semester breaks.

A 50 computer lab is available at level 2, 17 QB street

Closed: Weekends

Books, manuals, texts, can also be purchased from Academic & General, 259 Swanston Street Melbourne.

Sydney Campus

The Resource Centres are located on the Level 4, 540 George Street, 2nd floor and 191 Cleveland Street.

George Street
George Street resource centre is open from open from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM Monday to Friday.

Cleveland Street
Cleveland Street resource centre is open from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM Monday to Friday and 8.30 AM to 12.30 PM and 1.30 PM to 5.30 PM on Saturday.

The resource centres are closed on Sundays and public holidays with reduced times and days during semester breaks.

All Campuses

Photocopy machines in the resource centres require a photocopy card that can be purchased from the Resource Centre Officer.

The Melbourne and Sydney Public Libraries are also available to students as well as local libraries in residential areas.
