Staff and students alike have been getting into the festive spirit lately holding parties at all campuses to celebrate the holiday season! Check out the festivities!
There have been plenty of other events happening as well, to name just a few:

Sydney Hairdressing students put on a show stopping extravaganza!

Carrick Sydney Certificate IV students held a hair show themed ‘A day at the races' showing off their skills in creative colour and up styling techniques. Read the full story here.
The Student Representative Council (SRC)
The SRC has been revived at Carrick for 2010. Sydney held their inaugural meeting in November and the Sydney Campus would love to hear from any Alumni member who would like to share their experiences or knowledge with these students.
The SRC re-launch is scheduled for January 2010 in Melbourne and the campus is looking forward to having student input into the campus life and events that are being held. More information on the launch and the student representatives will be advised in the next edition of CAN.
Alejandro Saravia brings the flavours of Peru to Carrick
Carrick Sydney in conjunction with Carrick Commercial Cookery graduate Alejandro Saravia hosted a night of Peruvian flavours on Wednesday, 23 September 2009, in Sydney. Saravia, originally from Peru, introduced media and Carrick partners to Peruvian Andean cuisine with the help of Carrick teachers and current students. Taste of Peru.

Sydney Student Phung secures her dream job and works with MasterChef runner up Poh!
Sydney student, Phung Minh Ngyuen shares her story working with Poh, runner up of this year's hit TV show, MasterChef. Phung’s passion for cooking has also secured her a job working at five star Sydney restaurant Quay. Read Phung's story.
Carrick and the City of Melbourne Couch
Carrick in conjunction with the City of Melbourne held a ‘Working in Australia seminar’ on 23 October for international students living in Melbourne. Read about the event here.

Carrick in the Community
Carrick has a long standing history of corporate social responsibility which has recently been formalised under the title, Carrick Community Care. Students and staff alike have been working within the community for the benefit of various charities. For example:
BlazeAid, Greg Francis and his team provided meals for the volunteers rebuilding fences burnt down by the Black Saturday Bush Fires.
Woodstock ReVisited, Adelaide Campus Director, Jane Mitchell and her husband held Woodstock ReVisited in their garden to support the Royal Society for the Blind Guide Dogs Service. Woodstock ReVisited was a take on the original music festival with local bands playing to over 500 guests!
Be Active Corporate Cup, the Adelaide team have been working up a sweat and getting fit in the Adelaide Be Active Corporate Cup, a program designed to get workers out and about and being active!
Bluey Day, Carrick's Hairdressing team helped out the Bluey Foundation in the national roadshow aimed at increasing awareness of kids with cancer and other serious illnesses, see article below.

Carrick staff and students supported National Charity, the Bluey Day foundation in Melbourne in October. Find out exactly what they did.

Short Courses
Barista/coffee making courses, RSA courses and hair design short courses are available at select Carrick campuses. See the short courses page of the Carrick website if you are interested in enrolling in these short courses. www.carrickeducation.edu.au/course
English
English for Nursing will be opening at the Brisbane campus in 2010. Watch this space for more courses starting in the new year!
Vocational
Certificate III and IV in Tourism and the Diploma of Events will be commencing in Adelaide in January 2010. The Adelaide campus will have a simulated Travel Agency located on level two of the Campus which will be officially launched in January. In addition, guest speakers from industry and regular field trips will be organised to enable students to fully understand the fantastic tourist attractions and events we have in Adelaide.
The Diploma of Community Welfare Work will commence in Adelaide in February 2010. Agreements are already in place with several agencies to take our students for field placements. The trainer is a leader in her field who is passionate about the program and prepares our students for all areas of community welfare work.
