NEWS FROM CARRICK COMMUNITY CARE
Carrick shaves it all off
Carrick Institute of Education supported the Bluey Day Foundation in raising money for kids with Cancer and other serious illnesses by shaving the heads of brave participants at the Bluey Day Fundraising BBQ Thursday 22 October.
In front of the State Library, Melbourne, Carrick was in charge of the great head-shave, a Bluey Day tradition aimed at showing kids with cancer its cool to be bald. Carrick Hairdressing students shaved a number of heads and coloured countless more all for a donation to the good cause.
This is the first year that Carrick has been involved in the head-shave event which began in 1995. Carrick Course Coordinator, Pina Lo Giudice says “Carrick’s involvement was an idea over an informal discussion which has turned into an all hands on deck affair. All of our students are so keen to be involved and put their clipper skills to the test!”
Bluey Day is a national foundation supported by all divisions of the Australian emergency services; the foundation has raised over $20 million since 1995 and this year the Bluey Day fire truck has clocked over 10,000 kilometres around Australia in support of the cause.
