ALUMNI SUCCESS STORY

Alejandro Saravia, Diploma of Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) Sydney

Alejandro Saravia is one of Australia’s latest up and coming chefs. Bringing something new to the table, Saravia is combining Modern Peruvian and Australian flavours through the skills he has learnt studying in Australia.

Saravia studied an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality at Carrick Institute of Education to learn the skills needed to work in an Australian kitchen and gain knowledge of local produce in Australia.

By studying at Carrick, Saravia learnt what appeals to the local palate and has used this knowledge to develop his culinary concept ’A Taste of Peru’.
Saravia believes there is room for Peruvian Cuisine in the Australian fine dining scene and is currently hosting ‘A Taste of Peru’ as part of the Sydney’s International Food Festival.

Saravia said “During my studies at Carrick, I have been working hard to develop an authentic but modern combination called ‘A Taste of Peru’, I’ve learnt about the different cultural influences in the Australian food business and discovered what appeals to the Australian palate”.

Before launching ‘A Taste of Peru’, Saravia worked in prominent Sydney restaurants, Opera Bar, Circular Quay and Salon Blanc, Woolloomooloo to further develop his skills learnt in Carrick’s commercial kitchens.
