Hello I am Catherine Carrick, Founder and Managing Director of the Carrick Education Group, Australia. The Group incorporates:

Carrick has been educating people in Australia since 1987 - over 22 years. I started Carrick as a young woman with a dream to create an educational environment which allowed young people to aspire to their very best.

22 years later I still believe in that dream and see it come true every day with many wonderful success stories of our graduates. I am very proud of Carrick's position and reputation which assists students to achieve their professional and personal goals. Recently in Australia the press has reported disturbing events about violence against International students. At Carrick we are aware of individual cases and have immediately set about providing support wherever we can.

I have personally made this a priority to meet with any students who have been affected and provided counseling by our caring and professional staff at Carrick. Carrick has also provided finance for students to repair any damage caused, for extra medical expenses and in some cases travel expenses for families to get to Australia quickly to be with the family members. Wherever I can I meet with students on a regular basis to speak with them about their safety and any concerns they are facing.

Violence is a fact of life in medium to large cities worldwide. I wish I could say it does not exist in Australia but it does. It is a fact however that violence in Australia is still relatively isolated and International students need to know how to avoid the dangerous locations. At Carrick we provide advice on how to stay safe and in the event that a student experiences trouble we are here at Carrick to provide practical support and care just as if they were our own family member.

Carrick will support any student who finds themselves in a vulnerable position. We are here not only to educate but to ensure each student's experience in Australia is positive and rewarding. It is part of the whole package at Carrick that these students are part of a large and caring community where we can all help each other.
