A number of Carrick students took part in Melbourne’s Sustainable Transport Expo last week, taking the chance to gain experience outside of the classroom while promoting alternative modes of transport in the environmentally friendly Docklands precinct.
Carrick, along with other local businesses were invited to be part of the event as the main campus is located in the Docklands.
Hairdressing students set up a ‘helmet hair fix-up’ stall where cyclists ‘helmet hair’ was attended too by the students.
Commercial cookery students provided expo attendees and cyclists with free breakfast and lunch and tourism and events students also had the chance to work in a real life event environment, helping with ushering and flyer distribution.
Despite the less than perfect weather over 350 people passed through the Victoria Harbour Gardens in Docklands to attend the expo and support environmentally friendly transport such as cycling.
The Sustainable Transport Expo was one initiative part of a greater Docklands vision to be recognised as a leader in environmentally responsible development and operations.
