Melbourne July Graduation - Vocational & Higher Education!

Graduation. A right. A passage. A tradition. And at Carrick we are more than proud to celebrate the success of our students and the achievement of their studies.

On Thursday 15th July, at the beautiful Scot’s Church in Melbourne, 70 proud Carrick students donned their suits, fixed their hair and made themselves sparkle for the great privilege of attending their Graduation.  It was an event to be honoured amongst the students and shared with their teachers, friends and family.

Student Services manager, Marnie Rangan, was Master of Ceremonies and accompanying her were the Founder and Managing Director Ms. Catherine Carrick, the Higher Academic Board Members, the Higher Academic Director and Course Coordinators, the Vocational Coordinators and our special guest speaker from the City of Melbourne, Councillor Ken Ong.
Cr. Ong is Deputy Chair of the Future Melbourne (Economic Development and Knowledge City), (People and Creative City) and (Finance and Governance) Committees and is also a Life Member and former President of the Chinese Association of Victoria. In addition, in 2007, Ken was awarded the Lord Mayor's Community Service Award. Therefore, it was only fitting to have him speak at our Graduation.

Councillor Ong talked about the success of being an international person in Australia and the importance of continuing your education as students of life. His quote was very apt as he stated, “Though your life as students may end tonight, your life as students of the world continues every day.” The students nodded in acknowledgment and clapped with appreciation of hearing such an honored guest.

First to receive their awards were the Vocational students. Once their name was called, they stood valiantly and took hold of their certificates from Ms. Catherine Carrick. Then waiting, in anticipation, were our Higher Education students ready and willing to receive their Bachelor Diplomas. Whilst they shook hands and changed their tassel with the Academic Board, congratulatory shouts were heard from proud parents and friends in the mezzanine.

Once the formalities finished it was time for group photos, food-a-plenty and the token ‘throw-your-caps-in-the-air’ shot. Smiles were large and laughter could be heard from outside the venue. The students felt appreciated with the event and with the acknowledgement of their accomplishments.
Congratulations guys...all the best with your future.
