Carrick Friendship Day
Carrick Sydney students and staff joined together for a day of celebration on Monday at the Cleveland Street Campus.
Staff and students were celebrating the National Day of Friendship between Australia and India and the official National Days of Pakistan, Indonesia and Korea which all fall in August.
Nearly 500 students and staff joined the celebrations in Sydney and blue skies and sunshine only increased the buzz of energy that filled the student breakout room.
Many of the students wore national dress, and danced to traditional bhangra music, even teachers joined in wearing bindis. Students provided entertainment for everyone by telling jokes and with traditional singing and dancing from their home countries.
Two Carrick Sydney students from Malaysia, were beautifully dressed in Indian Saris and were awarded the ‘friendship’ prize for what was a perfect example of multiculturalism.
The atmosphere was jovial and the event was a great way to take a break from study and celebrate friendship at Carrick.
The event was topped off by freshly baked Samosas (Indian curry puffs) baked especially for friendship day.
