Siew-Kim Lim, Student Development & Transition Coordinator, Melbourne

Hi, my name is Siew-Kim.  I have been working in Student Services at Carrick, Melbourne for more than 2 years.

I work with a great team of dedicated individuals who ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure that students have an enriching overseas experience at Carrick and Melbourne/Australia.

Some of the many services we provide include Orientation, Home-Stay, Accommodation Advice and Referral, Student Events and Activities and of course, Graduation.

There are many facets to my job but I would like to highlight two, Organising information sessions that inform students on how best to adjust their new ‘home’ facilitated by Victoria Police, Consumer Affairs of Victoria and City of Melbourne, and looking after the welfare or well-being of students who are experiencing, or have gone through a difficult or crisis situation.

I have found that most students appreciate the provision of a safe place where they can talk to someone and feel genuinely heard.

Simply, I do love my job and am very grateful to be able to share in the lives of many students.

It is rewarding to celebrate when a student, who despite setbacks, finally completes their course and graduates!  These are the students who have great stories to tell and I am glad to have contributed to a part of it.
